Yeast-Free Soft Turkish Pastry

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 1.5 cups yogurt
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1.5 packets baking powder
  • Approximately 4 cups flour

Filling

  • White cheese
  • Parsley

Topping

  • Egg yolk
  • Sesame seeds
  • Nigella seeds

Preparation

  1. First, prepare the filling by mixing white cheese and finely chopped parsley.

  2. In a mixing bowl, combine vegetable oil, salt, sugar, yogurt, and egg, and mix well.

  3. Sift the flour and baking powder into the bowl and knead until a soft, non-sticky dough forms.

  4. Divide the dough into lemon-sized pieces, roll each in your palm, and flatten slightly.

  5. Place a portion of the filling in the center of each dough piece and seal it closed.

  6. Arrange the pastries on a parchment-lined baking sheet with the sealed side up.

  7. Brush with egg yolk and make a cut in the center with a sharp knife.

  8. Sprinkle with sesame and nigella seeds and bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until done.
