Turkish Cheese-Filled Pastry
Ingredients
- 250g softened butter
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1 teacup water
- 1 teacup vegetable oil
- 2 eggs
- half package fresh yeast
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 6 cups flour
Filling
- white cheese
- kashar cheese
Topping
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon yogurt
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
Preparation
First, knead the dough until you get a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands.
Cover and let it rise for 45 minutes to an hour.
Then, take pieces the size of a mandarin orange, stuff with cheese, shape into rounds, and place them spaced out on the baking tray.
Let them rise for another 20 minutes.
Brush the egg mixture on top and score with a fork.
Bake at 200 degrees Celsius.
Notes
This recipe makes exactly two trays.
One tray can be made with kashar cheese and one with white cheese.
Water glass measurement is 220ml, tea glass measurement is 125ml.
