Turkish Cheese and Sausage Pastry
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 3 tablespoons yogurt
- 2 eggs
- 1.5 tablespoons dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 4.5-5 cups flour
Filling
- Sucuk (Turkish sausage)
- Kaşar cheese
Topping
- Roasted sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon molasses
- 1/2 cup water
Preparation
Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes until foamy.
Add the remaining ingredients and gradually add flour, kneading the dough well.
Cover the dough and let it rise for 30 minutes.
Divide the dough into mandarin-sized pieces.
Flatten each piece, add sliced sausage and cheese inside, shape into ovals and seal the edges.
Dip each piece first in a mixture of molasses and water, then in roasted sesame seeds.
Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake in a preheated 190-200°C oven until lightly golden.
Serve when slightly cooled.
