Yeastless Crumbly Turkish Pastry

Ingredients

  • 100 grams butter
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon mahleb powder
  • Flour as needed

Preparation

  1. Mix all ingredients except flour in a large bowl until well combined.

  2. Gradually add flour to form a dough.

  3. Shape pieces of dough by eye.

  4. Place the shaped dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  5. Brush with egg yolk.

  6. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until golden brown.

Notes

  1. This pastry is quick to prepare and ready by the time tea is brewed.
