Turkish Poğaça Bread Rolls
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 2 eggs (yolk for topping, white for dough)
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 5-6 cups flour (add gradually)
Preparation
Put the yeast and sugar in lukewarm milk, stir well, and wait 5 minutes until the yeast activates.
Add the egg white, vegetable oil, flour (add gradually and do not add all at once), and salt, then knead into a soft dough that slightly sticks to the hands.
Cover and let the dough rise for half an hour.
Punch down the dough, shape it, and place on the baking tray.
Brush the tops with egg yolk.
Let rest on the tray for at least half an hour, longer if possible for better results.
Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until done.
After removing from the oven, cover with a damp cloth and serve later.
Notes
This recipe yields enough for two trays; one can be made as poğaça and the other as a different shape like açma.
