Turkish Cheese-Filled Poğaça
Ingredients
- 2 cups warm milk
- 2 cups warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1.5 teaspoons salt
- 1 packet instant yeast
- 1/2 packet baking powder
- Flour as needed, approximately 7 cups
Filling
- Lor cheese and fatty white cheese mixture
Egg wash
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- Poppy seeds
Preparation
Mix all dough ingredients together to form a smooth dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
Shape the dough, add the cheese mixture to the centers, and seal the edges.
Place the shaped poğaça on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Let the poğaça rise for another 20 minutes.
Brush the poğaça with a mixture of 1 egg yolk and 1 teaspoon vegetable oil.
Sprinkle with poppy seeds.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for 15 minutes.
Remove from the oven and cover with a cloth for 5 minutes.
Tips
This recipe yields 39 poğaça, and eating two should be satisfying.
