Soft and Fluffy Sandwich Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 egg whites (yolks reserved for brushing)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups flour

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, mix warm water, warm milk, vegetable oil, instant yeast, and sugar; let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Stir in the egg whites and salt.

  3. Gradually add flour and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.

  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.

  5. Punch down the dough and shape it into one or two sandwich loaves.

  6. Place in greased loaf pans and let rise again until doubled, about 30-45 minutes.

  7. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  8. Brush the tops with reserved egg yolks.

  9. Bake for 25-35 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
