Savory Cheese and Herb Tarts

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1 tablespoon yeast
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup chopped dill
  • 1/4 cup chopped za'atar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 to 1 cup lukewarm water

Filling

  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon oregano

Preparation

  1. Sift the flour and salt, place in a food processor, add yeast, oil, za'atar, dill, and mix until combined. Gradually add water to form a soft dough. Place the dough in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  2. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Prepare small tart molds and grease them with oil.

  3. Roll out the dough on a floured surface, cut into 1.5-inch circles, and line the molds with the dough, covering the bottom and sides. Let it rest for a short time.

  4. For the filling, in a deep bowl, mix cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, butter, and oregano together.

  5. Distribute the filling into the tart shells and bake in the oven for 15 minutes until golden brown.
