Double Chocolate Vegan Brownies
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons ground flax seed (+ 5 tablespoons water for flax egg)
- 1/2 cup coconut sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
- 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3/4 cup cacao powder
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 vegan chocolate bar or chocolate chips (Lily's chocolate chips use stevia & erythritol)
Preparation
Mix your flaxseed meal with water and place in the fridge to set for 5-10 minutes
Combine your wet ingredients in a bowl, and add your flax egg when it’s ready
Then add dry ingredients into the wet bowl to form your batter
Place your brownie batter in a lined 8x8 baking dish and bake for 35 minutes at 325°F
Melt half of a vegan chocolate bar or 1/2 cup vegan chocolate chips in a bowl in 30-second increments in the microwave. Once the brownies have fully cooled, drizzle on top.
