Store-Bought Phyllo Börek with Potato Filling
Ingredients
- 5 fresh phyllo sheets
Sauce
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons flour
- 5 tablespoons starch
Filling
- 5 potatoes
- 2 onions
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Topping
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
Preparation
Boil the potatoes. Meanwhile, sauté the onions. After mashing the boiled potatoes, add the sautéed onions and mix to prepare the filling.
Mix the sauce ingredients together to prepare the sauce.
Spread a phyllo sheet on the counter, brush it with the sauce, cut it in half, place the potato mixture on the narrow end, roll it up, and shape it into a rose.
Prepare all phyllo sheets in the same way and arrange them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Drizzle the tops with vegetable oil and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes.
Allow the böreks to cool slightly before serving.
