This Tofu
Ingredients
- 1️⃣ Once removing the block of tofu from its packaged with water, you MUST press out the water! Cut the block of tofu width wise (into large slices), sandwich the tofu between a dish towel with paper towels below and on top of the tofu, then place a weighted object on top! (ex. Baking pan). Leave the tofu for 30 min-1 hour to ensure the excess moisture is completely removed
- 2️⃣ Tofu is basically flavorless, so if you do not marinate it, it will not taste like anything! I recommend cutting the tofu into cubes or thinner slices, then put it in a ziplock bag to marinate for 15-30 minutes minimum! (I usually leave it for a few hours though) You can use any sauce that you want the tofu to taste like, and it will soak it up like a sponge
- 3️⃣ Do NOT marinate your tofu with an olive oil (or sauce containing olive oil as a main ingredient). Tofu is watery and water and oil do not mix well together, so the flavor will not stick
- 4️⃣ After your tofu is pressed and marinated, it is time to cook! My favorite method are pan frying it on the stove with extra sauce to crisp up the edges, baking it in the oven for ~20 minutes, or grilling it! Tofu is not an animal product (obviously) so there is no set time you have to cook it! Just do whatever method you prefer

Lunch deets: Thai baked tofu dish with @traderjoes Thai green curry simmer sauce! After it baked for 20 min, I transferred it to a pan with my steamed broccoli and a bit more sauce! Enjoyed over @wholefoods brown rice, red rice, lentil, and bean blend (bough dry and cooked in my rice cooker for ~45 minutes)
