Tomato Basil Sambal with Shrimp Paste

Ingredients

  • 2 tomatoes
  • 4 shallots
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 4 large red chilies
  • Bird's eye chilies to taste
  • 1 sachet shrimp paste or 1 teaspoon
  • Palm sugar to taste
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  1. Sauté the sambal ingredients except palm sugar and salt with oil until wilted

  2. Blend the sautéed sambal, add palm sugar and salt to taste, then check the taste

  3. Boil water, add basil leaves, cook briefly until wilted, then remove and drain

  4. Mix the boiled basil leaves with the sambal, stir well with a spoon and serve
