Caramelised Onion Smash Burger Flatbreads
Ingredients
- 2 Persian Style Flatbreads from @mydelikitchen
- 250g beef mince
- 1.5 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp oregano
- 1 red or white onion
- 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 3 slices of cheese (I used elemental)
- 2 tbsp burger sauce
- A small handful of rocket
- 30g grated cheddar cheese
- 1 tbsp butter
- Sprinkling of fresh parsley
Preparation
Preheat oven to 180°C.
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan and add the beef mince along with the oregano and 1 teaspoon garlic powder. Break up the mince and cook until brown then place to one side.
Peel and finely slice the onion and add it to the same pan. Add the balsamic vinegar to deglaze the pan and add the sugar, then mix well and cook until the onions are soft and caramelised.
Spread the burger sauce over one side of each of the flatbreads. Place one of the flatbreads on a baking tray with sauce side up and add the cheese on top, followed by the mince, the caramelised onions along with the rocket and a sprinkling of cheddar cheese to help it stick to the bread. Place the other flatbread on top with sauce side down.
Melt the butter in the microwave for 20 seconds and add the parsley and 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder. Mix well then brush it over the top of the flatbread. Slice the flatbread into 6 even segments using a sharp knife, then bake in the oven for 7 minutes.
Dig in, share, and enjoy.
