Crispy Air-Fried Tofu with Sweet Chili Sauce

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1 Tbsp Soy Sauce, low sodium
  • 4 Tbsp Cornstarch
  • 1 pack of high protein tofu (TJ’s)
  • 1 Tbsp Toasted Sesame Oil

Preparation

  1. Freeze the tofu and fully defrost it before cooking, then press it to remove excess water

  2. Add 2 tablespoons of sauce before air frying and another 2 tablespoons after

  3. Coat the tofu with cornstarch for crispiness

  4. Air fry at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 22 to 25 minutes, flipping every 7 to 8 minutes to ensure even cooking

  5. Alternatively, bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes, flipping every 7 to 8 minutes for best results

Tips

  1. Freezing and defrosting tofu changes its texture to be more chewy and similar to chicken

  2. Pressing tofu after defrosting helps achieve better crispiness during cooking

  3. If you don't like tofu one way, try different methods like air frying, baking, or sautéing to find your preference

  4. This tofu preparation is great for meal prep with rice and veggies, and you can adjust sauce amounts based on taste
