Mortadella Flower Bread

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons powdered milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup corn oil
  • 1 cup water

For glazing

  • 1 egg

For stuffing

  • 12 slices mortadella

Preparation

  1. In the mixer bowl, put 2 cups of flour, yeast, baking powder, sugar, milk, salt, and garlic powder, attach the dough hook and mix for a few seconds to combine the ingredients, add oil and water, and mix on low speed for 4 minutes to form a smooth dough, adding more flour if needed, then cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size

  2. Prepare a large tray and optionally line it with parchment paper

  3. Get a cutter sized to match the mortadella slices

  4. Sprinkle some flour on the work surface

  5. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough and then use the cutter to cut it into 24 disks, depending on the size of the mortadella used

  6. Place a mortadella slice on top of a disk, then place another disk on top and press lightly to stick them together

  7. Using a knife, cut the edges of the dough without reaching the center, making about 8 cuts

  8. Take a cut end of the dough and twist it around itself, repeat with the remaining dough to form a flower shape, then place them on the tray with space between each piece

  9. Set the wire rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 200°C

  10. Brush the surface of the dough with egg

  11. Bake the pastries for 20 minutes or until golden brown, then serve warm
