Mortadella Flower Bread
Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 tablespoons powdered milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 cup corn oil
- 1 cup water
For glazing
- 1 egg
For stuffing
- 12 slices mortadella
Preparation
In the mixer bowl, put 2 cups of flour, yeast, baking powder, sugar, milk, salt, and garlic powder, attach the dough hook and mix for a few seconds to combine the ingredients, add oil and water, and mix on low speed for 4 minutes to form a smooth dough, adding more flour if needed, then cover and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size
Prepare a large tray and optionally line it with parchment paper
Get a cutter sized to match the mortadella slices
Sprinkle some flour on the work surface
Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough and then use the cutter to cut it into 24 disks, depending on the size of the mortadella used
Place a mortadella slice on top of a disk, then place another disk on top and press lightly to stick them together
Using a knife, cut the edges of the dough without reaching the center, making about 8 cuts
Take a cut end of the dough and twist it around itself, repeat with the remaining dough to form a flower shape, then place them on the tray with space between each piece
Set the wire rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 200°C
Brush the surface of the dough with egg
Bake the pastries for 20 minutes or until golden brown, then serve warm
