Homemade Wheat Sandwich Bread
Ingredients
- 150g all-purpose flour
- 150g whole wheat flour
- 50g bread flour
- 65g granulated sugar (or 50g for less sweet)
- 5g instant yeast
- 20g milk powder
- 25g butter
- a pinch of salt
- 160-185g ice water (adjust as needed)
Preparation
Mix the dry ingredients except butter and salt, add ice water and knead until half done.
Add butter and salt and continue kneading.
If using a standard mixer, proof the dough for 30 minutes, then punch it down.
Divide the dough into three pieces, roll each out, and roll up tightly while compacting.
Place the shaped dough in a 20x10 cm loaf pan and proof until it has risen.
Bake at 170 degrees Celsius for about 40 minutes or until done.
Notes
The recipe can be made automatically in a bread machine if available.
Adjust water amount based on dough consistency; 160g may be sufficient but can be increased.
