Homemade Sandwich Bread Rolls
Ingredients
- 100 ml water
- 1 packet dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups milk (200 ml as specified)
- 1 egg white (yolk reserved for topping)
- 60 g butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6.5 cups flour (may vary by quality)
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for oiling bowl)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Preparation
Add yeast, sugar, and water to a suitable bowl and activate it.
Warm the milk in a bowl, add butter, make it lukewarm, transfer to a mixing bowl, add egg white, and mix well.
Add flour and salt, then knead into a soft dough that sticks to hands; kneading on a counter is easier.
Shape the dough, oil the bowl with 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, place the dough in it, cover, and let it rise.
Divide the risen dough into 14 equal pieces, round them, flatten with hands to a size between a small plate and a large plate, roll from one edge, seal the end, place on a tray without unrolling, and let rise for half an hour.
Mix the reserved egg yolk with 1 teaspoon milk and brush it on top, then sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.
Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C until golden brown on top and bottom.
Tips
After baking, cover with a clean cloth to keep the bread soft.
