Homemade Sandwich Bread Rolls

Ingredients

  • 100 ml water
  • 1 packet dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 cups milk (200 ml as specified)
  • 1 egg white (yolk reserved for topping)
  • 60 g butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6.5 cups flour (may vary by quality)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for oiling bowl)
  • Sesame seeds (optional, for topping)

Preparation

  1. Add yeast, sugar, and water to a suitable bowl and activate it.

  2. Warm the milk in a bowl, add butter, make it lukewarm, transfer to a mixing bowl, add egg white, and mix well.

  3. Add flour and salt, then knead into a soft dough that sticks to hands; kneading on a counter is easier.

  4. Shape the dough, oil the bowl with 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, place the dough in it, cover, and let it rise.

  5. Divide the risen dough into 14 equal pieces, round them, flatten with hands to a size between a small plate and a large plate, roll from one edge, seal the end, place on a tray without unrolling, and let rise for half an hour.

  6. Mix the reserved egg yolk with 1 teaspoon milk and brush it on top, then sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired.

  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 190°C until golden brown on top and bottom.

Tips

  1. After baking, cover with a clean cloth to keep the bread soft.
