Healthy Turkish Oat Pide

Ingredients

Dough

  • 6 tablespoons ground oat flakes
  • 2 tablespoons yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • a bit of salt

Filling

  • 1 small tomato
  • 1 small pepper
  • a bit of black pepper
  • a bit of salt
  • a bit of red pepper flakes
  • a bit of basil

Topping

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 finger-length of kasar cheese
  • optional parsley

Preparation

  1. Mix all dough ingredients together to form a dough and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes

  2. Prepare the filling by chopping the tomato and pepper, then mix with salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and basil

  3. Roll out the dough into a flat, oval shape typical for pide

  4. Spread the filling evenly over the dough

  5. Brush the edges with egg yolk and sprinkle kasar cheese on top

  6. Bake in a preheated oven at around 200°C until golden and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes

  7. Garnish with parsley if desired and serve warm

  1. This recipe uses simple ingredients and is a healthy twist on traditional Turkish pide

  2. Forgot water and baking powder might have been shown in the video, but they are included in the ingredients here
