Spicy Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1/8 teaspoon red pepper powder
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  1. In a food processor, attach the metal blade and add the cheese, butter, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, mustard seeds, hot sauce, and red pepper powder, then pulse until the ingredients are mixed.

  2. Add the flour and pulse until a crumbly dough forms, then transfer the dough to a counter, knead a few times until it holds together, shape it into a cylinder, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

  3. Position the middle rack in the oven, preheat to 180°C, prepare rimmed baking sheets, and sprinkle salt on them.

  4. Remove the dough from the refrigerator, unwrap it, and using a sharp knife, cut it into 1/2 cm thick disks, then place the disks on the prepared sheets, leaving 1 inch between each.

  5. Bake in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
