Date and Cheese Fingers with Chocolate Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon fine-grained sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons dry milk
  • 1/2 cup soft butter
  • 8 cubes soft cheese
  • 1/2 cup date paste
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

Preparation

  1. Bring a shallow baking tray and line it with butter paper.

  2. Set the oven rack in the middle and preheat the oven to 180°C.

  3. In a mixer bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, dry milk, butter, and cheese, and attach the dough hook.

  4. Mix on medium speed until a cohesive dough forms.

  5. Shape the date paste into fingers and cut the dough into medium-sized balls.

  6. Roll each ball into a small circle, place some date paste in the center, wrap the dough around it, and shape into small fingers.

  7. Place the date fingers on the tray and repeat with the remaining dough and dates.

  8. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden.

  9. Remove from the oven and place the tray on a wire rack.

  10. Let cool completely, then arrange on a serving dish, drizzle with chocolate sauce, and serve.
