Vegan Tuna Melt Sandwich

Ingredients

  • 1 can water-packed vegan tuna
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegan mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional)
  • 4 slices bread
  • 1/2 red onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped pickles
  • 2 slices vegan cheddar cheese
  • Approximately 10g plant-based butter

Preparation

  1. Drain the vegan tuna if necessary and place it in a bowl. Mix in the sriracha and mayonnaise and spread the mixture over two slices of bread.

  2. Slice the half red onion into thin rings and distribute it along with the pickle cubes over the tuna mixture. Cover with the vegan cheddar slices and the remaining two bread slices.

  3. Heat a large frying pan. Brush the outer sides of the sandwiches with the plant-based butter and cook them for 6-8 minutes until golden brown, turning halfway through.

Tips

  1. If not a tuna fan, this can also be delicious with vegan ground meat or chicken pieces.
