Chocolate Cake with Coating and Syrup
Ingredients
Coating
- 395g sweetened condensed milk
- 200g heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
Dough
- 4 eggs
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 150ml oil
- 5 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 2.5 cups all-purpose flour without baking powder
- 250ml warm water
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
Syrup
- 200ml water
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- chocolate sprinkles for finishing
Preparation
Preheat oven to 180°C and grease a baking pan.
In a bowl, beat eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy.
Add oil to the egg mixture and mix well.
Sift flour and cocoa powder together, then add to the mixture alternately with warm water, stirring until combined.
Gently fold in baking powder.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
While the cake bakes, prepare the coating by combining sweetened condensed milk, heavy cream, and cocoa powder in a saucepan.
Cook the coating mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
For the syrup, mix water, cocoa powder, and sugar in a small pot and heat until the sugar dissolves.
Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, poke holes in it and pour the syrup over the top.
Spread the coating evenly over the cake and sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles before serving.
