Brazilian-Style Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Glaze

Ingredients

Cake batter

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup oil, minus 2 finger widths
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Chocolate glaze

  • 1 heaping tablespoon margarine
  • 1 (14 oz) can condensed milk
  • 1 (200ml) carton heavy cream
  • 4 heaping tablespoons cocoa powder

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Celsius and grease a cake pan with margarine, then dust with flour

  2. Whisk together the eggs, sugar, and oil in a large bowl until homogeneous

  3. Gradually add the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder, alternating with the warm water, mixing until smooth

  4. Pour the batter into the prepared pan

  5. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean

  6. While the cake bakes, prepare the glaze by heating the margarine, condensed milk, heavy cream, and cocoa powder in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened

  7. Pour the warm glaze over the cake
