Homemade Black & White V/gf Birthday Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 tbsp coconut sugar
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 1/4 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • black cake:
  • 1 large mashed ripe banana
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 3/4 cup oat flour
  • 1/2 cup cacao powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • optional : superfoods like reishi & lucuma

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 8 inch cake pans (or of you have just one, make one cake at a time). Make each cake in separate large bowls, mixing wet then dry ingredients until thick creamy batter forms. Pour batter into the cake pan and bake for 30 minutes. Let cool for at least 30 minutes

  2. FROSTING: Spread frosting on top of white cake. Carefully pick up and flip cake and place on top of black cake. Continue frosting the entire cake with a spatula. Once covered with one layer, place in fridge for 30 minutes, add another layer of frosting if you have any left

  3. HOMEMADE HEALTHY SPRINKLES SWAP: in a small bowl, add 1/4 cup shredded coconut, 1 tbsp pomegranate powder, and 1 tbsp coconut sugar. Sprinkle over the top
