Homemade Arancello Orange Liqueur
Ingredients
- Peel from 6-8 organic oranges
- 750ml 151-proof Everclear or 100-proof vodka
Simple syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
Preparation
Remove the peel from 6-8 organic oranges, using only the outer peel to avoid bitterness.
Place the peels in a large jar and cover with 750ml of 151-proof Everclear or 100-proof vodka.
Infuse the mixture for about 2.5 weeks.
Strain the infused liquid through several layers of cheesecloth, repeating 3 times for clarity.
Prepare a simple syrup by heating 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar until the sugar dissolves, then allow it to cool.
Add the cooled simple syrup to the strained arancello.
Store the arancello in the freezer and enjoy it chilled.
Tips
The flavor mellows and improves over time, but it is delicious right away.
Combine with freshly squeezed orange juice and a splash of orange sparkling water or champagne for a refreshing drink.
