Delicious Turkish Chicken Börek

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces chicken fillet
  • 5-6 red bell peppers
  • 3-4 charleston peppers
  • 2 onions
  • A bit of thyme
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • Phyllo dough
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Preparation

  1. Chop the chicken into small pieces.

  2. Chop the onions finely, add the oils, and sauté.

  3. Add the peppers and continue sautéing until the chicken is cooked and peppers are softened.

  4. Let the mixture cool once cooking is done.

  5. Spread one phyllo sheet on the counter and brush with a mixture of melted butter and vegetable oil.

  6. Layer another phyllo sheet on top.

  7. Cut the layered sheets into 12 pieces like sigara böreği.

  8. Brush with the butter-oil mixture.

  9. Place the filling on each piece, fold the edges in, and roll up.

  10. Repeat the process until all filling is used.

  11. After rolling, mix egg yolk with 1 tablespoon milk and brush over the böreks.

  12. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius until done.
