Turkish Imitation Boyoz Borek

Ingredients

  • 6 sheets phyllo dough

Wetting mixture

  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water

Filling

  • Cheese

Topping

  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 bottle soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg yolk

Preparation

  1. Mix the wetting sauce by combining 1 cup vegetable oil and 1 cup water.

  2. Lay the phyllo sheet on the work surface.

  3. Pour 7 tablespoons of the wetting sauce onto half of the phyllo and brush it evenly over the entire surface.

  4. Fold the phyllo over to form a D shape.

  5. Cut the folded phyllo into 4 pieces.

  6. Place the cheese filling on the long part of each piece.

  7. Roll each piece into a roll and shape it like a rose.

  8. Arrange the shaped boreks on a tray.

  9. For the topping sauce, mix 1/2 cup vegetable oil, 1 cup water, 1 bottle of soda, 1 teaspoon salt, and pour it over the boreks.

  10. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest overnight.

  11. Line a baking tray with parchment paper, invert the boreks, and arrange them on it.

  12. Brush with egg yolk.

  13. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius until golden brown.
