Easy Eggless Focaccia Bread
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1.5 cups lukewarm water
- 3 cups plain flour
- 0.5 cups semolina
- 2 tablespoons salt
- Olive oil
- Parsley, chopped
- Coriander, chopped
- Onion, finely chopped
- Cherry tomatoes
- Garlic, finely chopped
Preparation
In a bowl, take 2 tablespoons dry yeast.
Add 2 tablespoons sugar.
Add 1.5 cups lukewarm water.
Mix it well and keep aside until it gets frothy.
Separately take 3 cups plain flour.
Add 0.5 cups semolina.
Add 2 tablespoons salt.
Add 2 tablespoons olive oil.
Mix well.
Add half of the yeast water to this mix.
Mix well and then add the remaining yeast water.
Make a soft dough.
Sprinkle some plain flour on a smooth surface.
Knead the dough for 6-8 minutes until smooth and firm.
Oil the inside of a bowl.
Place the dough in the bowl.
Cover with plastic and keep aside in a warm area for one hour to let the dough rise.
Remove the plastic.
Punch the dough to release air.
Take a baking tray and place butter paper on it.
Grease with oil and sprinkle some semolina.
Transfer the dough to the baking tray.
Oil your hands and spread the dough to fit the tray.
Cover with plastic and leave aside for 30 minutes.
Remove the plastic and make finger holes all over the dough.
Spread the chopped vegetables over the dough.
In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon oil with 5 tablespoons water.
Spread this mixture over the dough.
Season with salt and pepper.
Place 3-4 ice cubes in a bowl inside the oven.
Bake at 220 degrees Celsius for 40-45 minutes.
Once the bread is baked, brush some oil on top.
Tips
Focaccia bread is ready and can be enjoyed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
