Italian Style Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
- 500ml full-fat soy milk
- 8 squares vegan dark chocolate (50g)
- 1/4 cup coconut cream
- 3 tbsp cacao powder
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract or paste (optional)
To serve
- 4 tbsp coconut cream
- 2 squares vegan dark chocolate (13g)
Preparation
Finely grate 2 squares of chocolate and set aside.
Break the remaining chocolate into individual squares.
In a small saucepan, heat 50ml of soy milk over low temperature.
Once the milk is hot, add the maple syrup, cacao powder, 8 squares of chocolate, and vanilla extract if using, then stir with a whisk or wooden spoon until combined.
Gradually add the remaining soy milk, adding only a small amount at a time and combining completely before adding more to prevent the mixture from splitting.
Continue to heat, stirring constantly, for another 3-5 minutes until the desired temperature is reached.
Remove from heat, add 1/4 cup coconut cream, and stir until combined.
Serve immediately, topped with coconut cream and the grated chocolate.
