Orange-Flavored Mom's Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs (one yolk set aside for topping)
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 125 grams butter, room temperature and very soft
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • zest from 2 oranges
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 packet vanilla

Topping

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3-4 tablespoons powdered sugar

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs, reserving one yolk for the topping, and mix well.

  4. Stir in the yogurt, olive oil, orange zest, and orange juice.

  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and vanilla.

  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until a dough forms.

  7. Shape the dough into cookies and place on a baking sheet.

  8. Brush the cookies with the reserved egg yolk and sprinkle with powdered sugar.

  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

  10. Cool the cookies on a wire rack before serving.

  2. Ensure eggs, butter, and yogurt are at room temperature before use.

  3. Add flour gradually and mix carefully to avoid overworking the dough.
