Orange Mother's Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs (one yolk reserved for topping)
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 125 g butter at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • A few drops lemon juice
  • Grated zest of 1 orange
  • 4-5 cups flour

Preparation

  1. Mix eggs, sugar, orange juice, yogurt, and oils.

  2. Add orange zest, baking powder, and baking soda; mix by hand.

  3. Gradually add flour until a soft, sticky dough forms.

  4. Grease your hands with oil and form the dough into medium mandarin-sized balls.

  5. Roll the balls quickly in your palms, brush with the reserved egg yolk, and dip in sugared walnuts.

  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet with space between them, as the cookies will double in size.

  7. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until golden brown.
