Turkish Kadayif Cookie Dessert

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3.5 cups flour
  • 125 grams butter
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 packet vanilla
  • 1/2 packet baking powder

Filling

  • 1 cup roasted kadayıf
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 tablespoons chopped walnuts

Syrup

  • 2.5 cups sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 slice lemon

Preparation

  1. Thoroughly knead the butter, vegetable oil, and egg.

  2. Gradually add yogurt, semolina, vinegar, vanilla, baking powder, and flour to form a soft dough.

  3. For the filling, take orange-sized pieces of dough and mix with roasted kadayıf, cinnamon, and chopped walnuts until well combined.

  4. Take a portion of the dough, add some filling mixture, shape into rounds, and poke holes using a toothpick.

  5. Bake at 180°C until golden brown.

  6. For the syrup, boil sugar, water, and lemon slice together.

  7. Ensure both the syrup and the baked dessert are lukewarm, then pour the syrup over the dessert and let it sit covered in the oven for 1 hour.
