Malaysian Sumi Agar-Agar Pudding

Ingredients

  • 20g agar-agar strips
  • 5 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups fresh milk or liquid milk
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • A pinch of salt
  • Food coloring (optional, as desired)
  • 2 packets sumi

Preparation

  1. Cook the agar-agar with water until it dissolves, then add sugar and stir well.

  2. Add the sweetened condensed milk and stir.

  3. Pour in the fresh milk, add a pinch of salt, and stir until well combined.

  4. Arrange the sumi creatively in the mold or pan, then pour the agar-agar mixture over it.

  5. Allow it to set, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours and cut as desired.

Notes

  1. Prepare the cornstarch by mixing it with a little water before adding to the mixture if desired for thickness.

  2. Food coloring can be added at any step according to preference for color.
