Malaysian Sumi Agar-Agar Pudding
Ingredients
- 20g agar-agar strips
- 5 cups water
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 2 cups fresh milk or liquid milk
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- A pinch of salt
- Food coloring (optional, as desired)
- 2 packets sumi
Preparation
Cook the agar-agar with water until it dissolves, then add sugar and stir well.
Add the sweetened condensed milk and stir.
Pour in the fresh milk, add a pinch of salt, and stir until well combined.
Arrange the sumi creatively in the mold or pan, then pour the agar-agar mixture over it.
Allow it to set, then refrigerate for 1-2 hours and cut as desired.
Notes
Prepare the cornstarch by mixing it with a little water before adding to the mixture if desired for thickness.
Food coloring can be added at any step according to preference for color.
