Turkish Kalburabastı Pastry

Ingredients

Syrup

  • 2 water glasses of sugar
  • 2 water glasses of water
  • a few drops of lemon juice

Dough

  • 150 g butter
  • 1 tea glass of liquid oil
  • 1 tea glass of milk
  • 1 pack of vanilla
  • 1 pack of baking powder
  • 1 egg
  • Half a tea glass of semolina
  • 400 g flour

Filling

  • 1.5 cups of walnuts

Garnish

  • Coconut powder

Preparation

  1. First, prepare the syrup by putting sugar and water in a pot and boiling for about 10 minutes.

  2. Add a few drops of lemon juice to the boiling syrup and boil for another 10 minutes, then let it cool.

  3. Mix all dough ingredients except flour and baking powder well.

  4. Add flour and baking powder and knead into a soft dough with the consistency of an earlobe.

  5. Form dough pieces the size of an egg yolk, flatten them slightly with your hands, add about a tablespoon of walnuts inside, and seal well.

  6. Place the pieces on a baking tray and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C top and bottom until golden brown.

  7. After removing from the oven, wait 5 minutes, then pour the cooled syrup over the hot dessert.

  8. The dessert is ready to serve after it absorbs the syrup.
