Turkish Pistachio Syrup Dessert

Ingredients

  • 125 grams butter (at room temperature)
  • Half a cup powdered sugar
  • Half a cup semolina
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tea glass ground pistachios
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 2 to 2.5 cups flour

Syrup

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2.5 cups water
  • 3-4 drops lemon juice

Preparation

  1. First, prepare the syrup. The sweet should be hot and the syrup cold.

  2. Mix sugar and water in a pot and stir.

  3. When it starts boiling, add lemon juice and boil for five minutes, then turn off the heat.

  4. For the dough, mix all ingredients except flour.

  5. Gradually add flour to form a soft dough that does not stick to hands.

  6. Shape dough into walnut-sized balls and place on a baking tray.

  7. Press an indent in the center of each ball with your finger. You can also shape them flat without indent if desired.

  8. Bake in a preheated 180°C oven until cooked.

  9. When the sweets are out of the oven and still hot, pour the cooled syrup over them.

  10. Once the sweets have absorbed the syrup, add pistachios to the centers if desired, and serve.
