Classic Tuna Melt Sandwich
Ingredients
- 8 slices of sandwich bread
- 200 g of tuna (drained)
- 100 g of mayonnaise
- 8 slices of cheddar cheese
- 1 tomato
- 2 pickled gherkins
- 1 celery stalk
- 1 small red onion
- fresh parsley
- juice of 1/2 lemon
- dried chili powder
- 30 g of butter
- salt
- pepper
Preparation
Drain the tuna and place it in a bowl
Add mayonnaise, finely chopped celery, red onion, pickled gherkins, chopped parsley, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and chili powder, then mix well to combine
Slice the tomato into thin rounds
Spread the tuna mixture evenly on 4 slices of bread
Top each with cheddar cheese slices and tomato slices
Cover with the remaining bread slices to form sandwiches
Butter the outside of each sandwich
Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat and cook the sandwiches until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes per side
