Spicy Tuna Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 8 slices of toast
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon turmeric
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed chili
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 large cans white tuna
- 1 green onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons chopped pickle cucumber
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
For serving
- mustard
- lettuce
- Swiss cheese
Preparation
In a deep bowl, place the mayonnaise, mustard, garlic powder, turmeric, paprika, crushed chili, salt, black pepper, tuna, green onion, chopped pickle, and chopped walnuts. Mix the ingredients with a fork, breaking up the tuna into very small pieces. Mix well to achieve a homogeneous mixture. Cover the tuna mixture and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.
To assemble the sandwiches, use a wide plastic spoon to spread mustard on the toast slices.
Place a lettuce leaf on each slice of bread. Spread the tuna mixture on half of the bread slices. Add a slice of cheese on top of the tuna. Add another layer of lettuce on the tuna mixture. Place another slice of cheese, then top with the remaining bread slices and press lightly to hold together.
Using a serrated knife, cut the sandwiches into triangles or as desired.
Serve the sandwiches immediately with pickles and olives.
