Homemade Spinach Dumplings with Fillings
Ingredients
- 250 grams plain flour (plus extra for dusting)
- 125 grams water
- 50 grams chopped fresh or frozen spinach (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Filling suggestions
- Red cabbage
- Mushrooms
- Spinach
- Any vegetables
- Frozen vegetables such as sweetcorn, peas, edamame, broccoli
- Prawns
- Chicken
Preparation
Defrost spinach in the microwave if using frozen, mix with water, bring to a boil for a few minutes until fully cooked, and blend to a puree
Add 150 ml of the boiling water mixture to the flour and salt, and mix well
Once cooled slightly, use hands to form a dough
Knead the dough well and set aside for 1 hour or freeze for later use
After resting, form about 30 small balls from the dough
Roll each ball into a flat circle about 7 cm in diameter
Fill with your choice of filling and seal by pinching and pleating
Cook by steaming or pan-frying and steaming like gyoza
