Bread Pudding with Custard Sauce
Ingredients
- 8 slices bread
- 2 cups fresh milk
- 3 tablespoons fine sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- Butter
Custard sauce
- 2 cups milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons custard powder
Preparation
Pudding
Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
Cut the bread into cubes.
Spread butter on the bread cubes.
In a bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, eggs, and vanilla essence to make the custard mixture.
Soak the bread cubes in the custard mixture for a few minutes.
Transfer to the baking dish and bake until set and golden, about 30-40 minutes.
Custard sauce
In a saucepan, mix custard powder and sugar with a little water to form a smooth paste.
Gradually add the remaining water and milk.
Heat gently over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
