Easy One-Bowl School Cake

Ingredients

  • 200g butter
  • 200g sugar
  • 200g self raising flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla flavouring
  • 3 - 5 tbsp milk (adjust as needed)

Icing

  • 200g icing sugar
  • water (add 1 tbsp at a time)
  • hundreds and thousands

Preparation

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C. Place all the ingredients for the cake except the milk and whisk using a hand or stand mixer until smooth. Then add the milk and whisk again.

  2. Pour the cake batter into a lined cake tin and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a skewer inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cake to cool.

  3. Mix the icing sugar and water together until smooth and ribbon-like. Pour over the cooled cake, smooth out, and add sprinkles immediately. Let set for 1 hour before slicing and serving.

Tips

  1. You can slice the cake even if the icing is still wet as it will still taste good.

  2. This simple one-bowl method is quick and easy, ideal for impatient bakers.
