Simple and Easy Afternoon Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup (200ml) milk
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons lemon zest (optional)

Preparation

  1. Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks and set aside

  2. Mix the egg yolks, sugar, milk, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and lemon zest until a homogeneous batter forms

  3. Gently fold in the egg whites and pour the batter into a greased and floured pan

  4. Bake in a preheated medium oven for about 40 minutes, or until golden

Notes

  1. If desired, after baking and while still warm, poke holes in the cake and pour 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk and shredded coconut on top
