Simple and Easy Afternoon Cake
Ingredients
- 4 eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup (200ml) milk
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons lemon zest (optional)
Preparation
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks and set aside
Mix the egg yolks, sugar, milk, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and lemon zest until a homogeneous batter forms
Gently fold in the egg whites and pour the batter into a greased and floured pan
Bake in a preheated medium oven for about 40 minutes, or until golden
Notes
If desired, after baking and while still warm, poke holes in the cake and pour 1/2 can of sweetened condensed milk and shredded coconut on top
