Classic Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients

  • 200g milk chocolate
  • 45g butter (SCS)
  • 45g Buttercup
  • 45g cocoa powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
  • 240g caster sugar
  • 200g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Toppings

  • Chocolate chips for decoration

Preparation

  1. Melt the milk chocolate and butter together using double boiling or microwave.

  2. Add the cocoa powder and stir quickly until well combined.

  3. Add the eggs and vanilla essence, and stir quickly until the mixture becomes shiny.

  4. Add the caster sugar and stir quickly until the sugar granules are less visible and the mixture is shiny.

  5. Add the flour and baking powder, and stir gently until just combined. The batter should be thick, sticky, and shiny, not pourable.

  6. Line an 8x8 inch pan with baking paper and secure with clips.

  7. Pour the batter into the prepared pan.

  8. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top for decoration.

  9. Bake at 160-170°C for 40-45 minutes.

Tips

  1. If the batter does not stick to the spatula, you have succeeded.
