Simple Apple Galette Dessert

Ingredients

Crust

  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or gluten-free recipe)

Filling

  • 3 Macintosh apples, thinly sliced
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon vegan butter
  • 1-2 teaspoons coconut sugar

Preparation

  1. Slice apples and place in bowl.

  2. Squeeze lemon juice over apples and drizzle with maple syrup.

  3. Add cinnamon and stir.

  4. Set aside.

  5. Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

  6. Roll out dough on parchment paper.

  7. Place apple slices in a desired shape in middle of dough.

  8. Using the parchment paper, fold edges in.

  9. Once galette has been formed, melt a tablespoon of vegan butter and brush the edges.

  10. Sprinkle approximately 2 teaspoons of coconut sugar around the edges as well.

  11. Place in preheated oven for 20 minutes.

  12. Reduce heat and bake for another 15 minutes until crust is golden brown.

Tips

  1. Use store-bought crust for simplicity if making your own is not preferred.

  2. Galettes are meant to be rustic, so imperfections are part of the charm and easier than traditional pies.
