Strawberry Cream Layer Cake
Ingredients
- Ready sponge cake
- 1 packet whipped cream topping
- Tip of a teaspoon pink food coloring
Cream
- 500 ml milk
- 2 eggs
- 80 g cornstarch (3 tablespoons)
- 180 g sugar (1 cup)
- 5 mashed strawberries
- 10 chopped strawberries
- 50 g butter
- 1 packet vanilla
Preparation
In a pot, bring milk, half of the sugar, and butter to a boil.
In a separate bowl, mix cornstarch with the remaining half of the sugar, add eggs, and stir until homogeneous.
Temper the egg mixture by adding two ladles of the boiling milk, then slowly add it back to the pot while stirring quickly to thicken.
Continue boiling for one more minute to remove the starch taste.
Pour the mixture onto a surface to cool completely, then stir in the strawberry puree.
Prepare the whipped cream topping according to package instructions and add a tip of a teaspoon of pink food coloring.
To assemble, spread the cream between the layers of the sponge cake, add chopped strawberries on top, and cover the entire cake with the colored whipped cream topping, then decorate as desired.
