Homemade Falafel Balls with Fresh Herbs and Spices

Ingredients

  • 1 can of chickpeas
  • 2 tsp cumin
  • 3 tbsp rolled or quick oats
  • 1/4 medium onion
  • 1 handful of cilantro
  • 1 handful fresh parsley
  • 2 tsp garlic
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • Optional: 1 jalapeño
  • Optional: 1 tsp sazón

Preparation

  1. Rinse and drain the chickpeas, then pat dry with a towel.

  2. Add all ingredients to a food processor.

  3. Process the ingredients together until the mixture is slightly crumbly but sticks together well. If you cannot form a ball without it falling apart, process it a little more.

  4. Roll the mixture between your hands to make 12 even falafel balls.

  5. For oven cooking: Preheat oven to 400°F and bake for 25 minutes on one side, then flip with a spatula to prevent sticking and bake for another 5 minutes or until golden.

  6. For air fryer cooking: Set temperature to 370°F and cook for 9 minutes.

  7. Serve as desired.

  8. Feel free to double the recipe for more falafel.
