Homemade Salmon Fishcakes for Babies

Ingredients

  • 3-4 fillets of salmon (or any fish)
  • 2 large potatoes, mashed
  • Zest of 1 lemon, finely grated
  • 1 Tbsp parsley, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp flour or oats (I used Ready Brek)
  • Breadcrumbs

Preparation

  1. Peel and chip the potatoes, then boil until soft.

  2. Grill the salmon at 180C for 5-6 minutes.

  3. Flake the fish into a bowl, add the mashed potato, lemon zest, parsley and flour/oats. Mix together.

  4. Shape into fish cakes or fish fingers.

  5. Roll in the breadcrumbs and shallow fry until golden brown.

  6. You can also mash the ingredients and offer from a spoon for easier feeding.

  7. Introduce fish from 6 months, avoiding same day as other allergens like dairy or eggs.

  8. Offer fish twice a week, including oily fish for nutrition.
