Spiced Honey-Soy Tofu Variation

Ingredients

  • 250g medium firm tofu, pressed
  • 1/2 cup tamari
  • 3 tblsp rice malt syrup
  • zest of a small lime
  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 tsp chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp sesame seeds
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed + roughly chopped
  • cracked pepper

Preparation

  1. Slice the tofu into slabs (as pictured), and place in a large dish

  2. Mix all marinade ingredients together and pour over the tofu. Leave to marinate for a few hours

  3. Fry off the tofu in a large pan with a little of the sauce. Sauce should caramelise slightly, and tofu will brown + become almost sticky looking. Cook tofu on both sides

  4. Remove the tofu from the pan, and pour the rest of the sauce into the pan. Allow it to simmer for about 5 minutes before removing it from the heat and pouring into a small pouring cup

  5. Assemble with rice, greens, slices of tofu, and drizzles of remaining marinade

  6. Basmati rice, cooked until... Cooked

  7. Green beans and broccoli florets - just eyeball the amount. Whatever you feel is good! Steam until just cooked, then fry until brown in a pan with a large teaspoon of minced ginger + a pinch of chilli flakes
