Kaiserschmarrn Austrian Pancakes with Applesauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 heaped tsp baking powder
  • 1 heaped tsp sugar
  • a pinch of cinnamon
  • vanilla extract
  • salt
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 cup plant based milk
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Preparation

  1. Mix the dry ingredients well and then add the rest. Stir well until it’s a smooth batter.

  2. Heat a little bit of sunflower oil in a pan and pour in the batter.

  3. Cook on medium high and when the sides turn golden and the batter starts to bubble, cut the dough into pieces and turn it over. Don’t worry about it being properly turned over, because it ends up cut anyway.

  4. Let it cook for 2-3 more minutes, then serve it warm with raisins, applesauce, and sugar.
