Brown Rice Black Bean Burger

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup ground flax
  • 1/2 cup water
2 cans black beans (i used black and pinto)
appx 1.5-2 cups cooked brown
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
1/2-1 cup oat flour
  • seasoning: himalayan salt, pepper, garlic powder, smoked paprika, coconut aminos, liquid smoke, chili powder (1/2-1tsp each)

Preparation

  1. I slow cook my beans in the liquid on the stove top first. Simmer for a good 30-40 minutes on low and season. Add onion in to cook in the mixture. Turn off heat once the beans have thickened in the liquid

  2. Cook your brown rice as directed and set aside

  3. Combine flax with water and set aside 5 minutes

  4. Combine all ingredients in food processor or heavy duty blender. Scrape side and pulse until a thick mixture forms. (Mixture will be thick and somewhat sticky) if it is runny you can add more oat flour as needed

  5. Place mixture in bowl

  6. Add additional seasonings as needed

  7. Form 4 large patties with your hands

  8. Grease pan and fry burgers 4 minutes each side until crispy

  9. Top with whatever you like!!
