Simple and Quick Cucumber Dal

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Toor dal
  • cucumber
  • tomatoes
  • green chillies
  • oil
  • cumin seeds
  • mustard seeds
  • turmeric powder
  • salt
  • water
  • garlic
  • coriander seeds

Preparation

  1. Boil 1 cup of Toor dal and set aside.

  2. If you don't like the cucumber skin, peel it off. Chop cucumber, tomatoes, and green chillies and set aside.

  3. Heat a kadai, add oil, splutter cumin and mustard seeds, add cucumber pieces and cook for 5 minutes, then add turmeric powder, tomatoes, and salt, and cook for another 5-10 minutes.

  4. Add the cooked dal along with some water to adjust the consistency.

  5. Pound garlic, cumin, and coriander seeds and add to the boiling dal.

  6. Boil for 5 minutes or so and then it's ready to serve.

  7. Eating cucumber with skin provides maximum benefits along with other nutrients.
